ZimGeN

Zim-GeN: The Zimbabwe Geriatrics Network

What is Zim-GeN?

We are a collaborative network of early-career clinicians with an interest in geriatric medicine spanning the UK, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. We meet online once a month for peer-to-peer teaching on a specialist topic within geriatric medicine. We have also set-up 1:1 mentorship pairings between members working in the UK and Africa for more targetted professional development and collaborative project work.

Are you a doctor working in the UK or Africa with an interest in geriatric medicine? If you’d like to join Zim-GeN please email Grace: grace.pearson@bristol.ac.uk

Aims of Zim-GeN

  • Professional development for early-career physicians with an interest in geriatric medicine: specifically, development of peer-to-peer mentorship and teaching skills.
  • Build a network of early-career physicians with an interest in geriatric medicine who offer each other peer-to-peer mentorship.
  • Share and improve specialist knowledge of geriatric medicine amongst early-career physicians in Zimbabwe and the UK and learn from differences in practice between these two countries.
