TEPSO: Towards Equitable Partnership with Global South Research Partners

The University of Bristol Vision and Strategy 2030 outlines ambitious plans for a vibrant future. One of its three pillars is “The transformative power of the global civic university” aiming to co-create a prosperous future through local and global partnerships. However, visa and passport inequities are a key barrier to research partnerships with Global South partners as they limit networking, exchange of skills and experiences, and dissemination of research findings. Additionally, inequitable budget allocation for Global South research projects (i.e., higher proportion of budget allocation/spend in Global North) calls into question openness and equitable research culture. Therefore, the project aims co-create pragmatic university intervention(s): to address visa and passport inequities (Work Package 1); and promote equitable budget spends and allocation for Global South research partners to promote a culture of genuine inclusive, equitable, and collaborative research (Work Package 2). The project is internally funded by the University of Bristol through funding from Research England as part of ongoing sectoral efforts to enhance research culture.
On Tuesday 11 March, the TEPSO toolkits online launch event took place. The launch event was a success, with over 50 attendees present, either in person or virtually. A recording of the event can be found here , and the Toolkits are available via the following links;
